Hi. I’m Francine.

I am a Movement Educator. What is that? Let me tell you.

I teach you how to move well, so you can enjoy the things you like to do.

I use modalities such as Pilates, yoga, rehabilitation exercises and protocols that I have learned from my extensive trainings, graduate studies in kinesiology and exercise physiology and time working with other movement professionals in both exercise and rehab settings. These techniques can be applied to those suffering from chronic pain, to athletes looking for a cross training modality to folks who simply want to feel better in their body and desire a consistent teacher/coach to help them along the way. Educating you empowers you to take good care both on the mat and off.

Francine Hernandez has been teaching movement since 2005 when she fell in love with Therapeutic Yoga. Having developed severe carpal tunnel in her first job out of college, Therapeutic Yoga provided stretch, stress reduction and gratitude for a form of exercise that brought relief rather than pain. Francine completed the Therapuetic Yoga Training soon after, motivated to not only continue the practice for herself but also to teach others.

She went on to complete her 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, and then, in 2006, a trip abroad led her to discover Pilates and complete a Pilates internship for several months.  She came back to the states even more inspired to learn and eager to expand her knowledge of the body and movement. She spent the next year completing the full training program of Body Arts and Science International (BASI) Pilates, then went on to become PMA certified, complete the coursework of the Pre/Postnatal Pilates Certification from the Center for Women’s Fitness, and Pilates for Buff Bones® Licensure.

Francine graduated with a master’s in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge and became faculty for both the Center for Women’s Fitness and Buff Bones®, and had the honor of training teachers both here in California and in other host sites across the states.

In 2011, she was at the forefront of web-based teaching when she started offering Virtual Sessions, enabling her to conduct private Pilates and Yoga sessions with students as close as LA and as far as Panama and Mexico in the comfort of their own homes with the convenience of internet access, webcam and Skype. In addition, she created a video for Real Living Nutrition Services, adding a fitness component to their online program.  She has continued to keep up her education by attending annual industry conferences. She has completed coursework in Pilates for Neurological Conditions, ScolioPilates (Pilates for Scoliosis), Movement Science Made Simple and continuing education with the Buff Bones® course. She continues to teach teachers by co-leading the Hybrid Buff Bones® Online Training multiple times a year.

Francine believes we never stop learning! It is what fuels her passion and what makes her the teacher she is today.  In the last few years, she has been studying and practicing Mindfulness Meditation and breath work, which enables her to be that much more present with her clients, her practice, and her life.  Whether you are interested in working with Francine to strengthen your core with Pilates, deepen your sense of awareness with breath work or restore your body with functional exercise, it is her hope (and belief) that something offered here at Your Daily Practice can contribute positively to your life, your passion…your practice.

Thank you to the teachers who have greatly contributed to my education and helped form me into the instructor I am today: Cheri Clampett, Arturo Peal, Monica Passaro, Jennifer Pearlstein, Carolyne Anthony, Rebekah Roststein, Mariska Breland, and Audrey Walzer.
